DANGEROUS SALES TACTICS

infrared sauna sales

Don't be fooled by a slick salesman

In the infrared sauna industry the salesman will say virtually anything to make a sale.  In our opinion it can be worse than buying a car.  Here are the top sales tactics.

"Our heaters are the absolute best in the industry"

Every sauna company has a name for their heaters, mostly made up out of thin air with very little data to back it up, and remember most are coming from China. The truth is we have found only one heater in the entire industry with a serial number, model number and a manufacturing number that is listed with UL (safety organization).

“Our heaters penetrate the deepest”

Just like it is impossible to say how many calories someone will burn because everybody has a different metabolic rate it is equally as deceptive to say how deep the infrared will penetrate your skin.  We have not uncovered one piece of actual scientific data that backs up claims many sellers make.

"Clinically tested”

As you may know a clinical test requires specific details in cases studying specifically, age, weight, gender, nationality, etc. There is no such clinical test which exists in the infrared sauna industry. We have found that some university employees may be using titles and deceptive write ups to acquire a free sauna or to get a payment incentive.

“Experts Say”

This is a tough pill for us to swallow. The fact is there is absolutely no regulation within the infrared sauna industry. This is extremely dangerous as many experts can be made to say anything in the name of compensation. Almost every testimonial from a clinic, doctor or wellness facility has been nicely compensated for their time.  The truth is there's really no expert in this industry, some may have credentials, but none are infrared sauna experts.

“Western Red Canadian Cedar is toxic and we sell hypoallergenic woods”

Researching this sales gimmick was very difficult. As we have known for many years traditional gyms like the YMCA and spas with hot rock saunas only used Canadian cedar wood or redwood so we had to find out if the industry wide claim is true. We traced back the rumor to about 10 years ago when a infrared sauna company out of Colorado began to sell a different wood type and began promoting the toxic rumor. We contacted a wood company directly to find out how true this was. We were shocked to find out that the Canadian government had done a 3rd party test to validate the rumor. The findings showed that in fact the western red cedar used in infrared sauna didn’t have any heavy bleeding and all the claims were false.

“Lifetime Warranty”

This one is comical to us.  Every single company we researched that claimed a lifetime warranty made it very clear they would only cover manufacturer's defects.  None will cover wear and tear or usage or power surges for that matter.  If there's a manufacturer defect in your infrared sauna it will almost always be apparent within the first 30 days of owning your sauna.  Deceptive?  Yes, but this is the same practice many other products and manufacturer's use.  Don't focus on warranties, focus on the strength and time the sauna company has been in business.  At the end of the day, if the company goes out of business like so many hundreds have what is a  "lifetime warranty" really worth?  A "lifetime warranty" should have zero weight in your decision.

“30 Day Money Back Guarantee”

This is something that sounded really good but as we read the small print the sauna would not only have to be returned on your dime using your own shipping source and rate but you would pay a restocking fee and reconditioning fee which would make the price to return upwards of 60% of what you paid.  Talk about deceptive.

“We are the manufacturer”

Understanding the business of importing, wholesaling, 3rd party marketing, manufacturing even had us questioning the legitimacy of every infrared sauna company claiming they are a manufacturer. We asked several of the companies to provide us with video of their manufacturing facility, their ISO documentation and the proof that they do in fact make the product they claim to. To date only one company has proven to be the manufacturer.  For more information click here.

“Lowest EMF in the industry”

Just about every company claims low EMF but there are only 3 companies in the entire industry which actually have had 3rd party testing. However, even the 3rd party testing did not plug in the heaters to the wall, they actually hard line tested them which eliminated the “DE” (dirty electricity) which does account for the increased EMF radiation. Again, no other company outside of the 3 have had 3rd party testing.  For more information click here.

“Full Spectrum”

This has become quite the buzz around the industry. Was this just another gimmick or was this something that had high value? After researching we found that FAR infrared will do the same thing near and mid frequencies will do just at a slower rate. In the context of sitting in a FAR infrared sauna for at least 30 minutes the benefits from the other two spectrums would be achieved.   So in reality a FAR infrared sauna will produce near, mid and far.  Selling an infrared sauna "full spectrum" is just another gimmick.
